In a landscape often obsessed with being a certain type of DJ, New Delhi-based Bhavya Singh, operating as Fringe Mechanics, has quietly eluded classification. His aversion to being pigeonholed has shaped a selector’s instinct that values texture over genre, a sensibility honed as a regular fixture at Delhi’s cult Medium Rare (now No More Parties) gatherings.
He aims to platform sounds that exist at the fringes, often trying to find common ground where acid-laced grooves and gut-punching rhythms meet emotive & eccentric melodies. For his Magnetic Fields debut, he offers a colourful deviation from a routine club-focused set – one that is oriented towards an assortment of global sounds, psychedelic textures, and low-slung organic basslines, but remains rooted in a thick balearic haze.
