MAGNETIC FIELDS NOMADS

Rooted in solitude, Rounak Maiti’s timeless music has always been written, recorded, and produced entirely by him. Yet it remains a quiet invitation to the listener, offering refuge through rough-hewn soundscapes full of honesty and restless emotion. Born from over a decade of DIY exploration, his broad catalog has carved a singular presence in the contemporary Indian music scene.
From 2012 to 2017, Rounak honed his craft as a self-taught artist, working with little more than acoustic instruments and free audio software. Released to a small but dedicated online audience, his early output quickly grew in scale and revealed his formidable ability as a singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and genre-agnostic producer. Today, that relentless work ethic has led him to craft beloved albums, film scores, and audiovisual work. Rounak is also a core founding member of acclaimed Indian audiovisual collective EXCISE DEPT and LA-based indie trio Small Forward.
Five years after his last solo full-length album, Rounak returned in 2025 with ‘Brute Fact/Home Truth’, a deeply personal document and a seismic evolution through electronic and rock music. Reflecting on communication, pain, love, family, and turning 30, his resonant voice moves away from its typically intimate delivery toward something that boldly commands attention, even at its breaking point.
